Are you ready to weave? This full-day Weaving Retreat will help you cultivate creativity, calm, and connection as you learn the ancient craft of coil basket weaving. You can weave with premium raffia, special pandanus fibers, or vintage fabrics—mix and match as you like!

You will learn the skills to create baskets, vases, wall hangings, earrings, and more—just in time for Christmas! The workshop covers four stitch styles, allowing you to focus on one or learn them all. All materials are provided, along with a wholesome vegetarian lunch and tea/coffee.

This event has a maximum of 12 participants, and all genders, abilities, and expressions of identity are welcome.

Basket Weaving Bliss takes place at the Lithuanian Hall at Highgate Hill, in inner Brisbane/Meanjin.

You are invited to bring along a Nature item that represents your decision to attend the weaving retreat, which could be a leaf, rock, flower, stick, or anything else. More details will be provided via email in the week prior to the event.

Basket Weaving Bliss takes place at the Lithuanian Hall atHighgate Hill, in inner Brisbane/Meanjin. Free street parking is available, and the 196 bus stops right outside. This venue iswheelchair accessible. The ramp is a 3.4 degree incline at the front of the hall. The footpath at the front of the hall is a 5.5 degrees slope. The entrance door to the hall is 134cm and then another door is 84cm wide. The premises do not have a disabled toilet, but the toilet doorway is 79cm wide and the larger toilet is 135cm wide and 241cm long. Monique Ross is acertified Nature and Forest Therapy Guide, who trained with the Association of Nature and Forest Therapy. She is the founder of Heartwood Nature Bathing and an experienced weaving teacher. She is also a journalist, author, and cat-mum. Monique has up-to-date certifications in Remote and Wilderness Area First Aid, and full public liability insurance. All of the appropriate permits have been secured.
