Multi-disciplinary artist Annie Hamilton brings her "addictive" (Rolling Stone) live show around Australia this November and December to celebrate the release of her highly anticipated new album, Stop And Smell The Lightning, set to drop on 1 November 2024.
Stop and Smell the Lightning offers a compelling exploration of emotional and sonic contrasts, seamlessly weaving a dynamic array of influences, styles, and sentiments. Shifting effortlessly between vibrant IDGAF exuberance and introspective delicacy, it blends energetic dance anthems with lush, ethereal dreamscapes and tender moments of vulnerability. Cinematic slow-burns and psychedelic whirlwinds punctuate the record, underscoring a nuanced process of self-reclamation and empowerment.
Eora/Sydney-based artist and fashion designer Annie Hamilton possesses a singular ability to capture the beating heart of an emotion and refract it through her own vivid musical prism, harnessing visceral, shimmering textures and wild, kinetic energy.
Driven by an unquenchable desire for risk-taking, her constantly-shifting sound enters a new era in 2024, melting down the building blocks of indie-rock and alt-pop that provided the foundation of her self-titled EP (2020) and introspective debut record, the future is here but it feels kinda like the past (2022), and fusing them with unexpected electronic and ethereal elements to create a signature sound that exists beyond the boundaries of genre and expectation. With each new offering, Hamilton leads us deeper into her now instantly recognizable visual and sonic universe.
Annie Hamilton’s music has garnered strong support from triple j, CLASH, FADER, NPR, RUSSH, NME, and more, including community radio nationally. She has recently played headline shows internationally across London, Paris, Berlin, and beyond, including showcasing at New York’s Night School (2022) and SXSW Austin (2023), Reeperbahn Festival (2023), and completed tours with notable artists such as The National, Julia Jacklin, Luke Hemmings, Lime Cordiale, Jack River, and Mallrat.
