Overview

Choose your background cushion cover colour (beige, blue, or yarn dyed black linen, subject to availability) and embellish with patches made from a collection of vintage and new Japanese cotton, silk, and linen fabrics. You’ll also have access to four different colours of embroidery threads as you start stitching.

Learn about the ancient Japanese technique of Sashiko, focusing on principles like up-cycling, respect for the discarded, and the slow stitching process, which promotes mindfulness and relaxation.

The kit provided in the workshop includes: - 2 pieces (40cm x 40cm) of linen/linen blend fabric - Fusible weft interfacing - Fabric patches - Embroidery thread - An embroidery needle

Extra kits and supplies will be available for purchase at the venue. The hand-stitching in class is beginner-friendly, and the back of the cushion features a ready-inserted zipper for easy completion at home, either with a sewing machine or by hand.

Please bring a pair of fabric scissors and some sharp pins to create your own masterpiece.
