Girl and Girl are back from an exciting European tour and are ready to launch new music soon, celebrating with their Australian spring tour dates.
This Australian indie outfit is known for their passionate, wry brand of hooky, '70s post-punk-influenced guitar rock. After several well-received EPs, they signed with Sub Pop and released their debut full-length album, Call a Doctor, in 2024, which NME praised as “brilliantly bonkers indie rock.”
Formed in 2020 in Queensland, Girl and Girl consists of singer/guitarist Kai James, guitarist Jayden Williams, bassist Fraser Bell, and drummer Melissa James (aka Aunt Liss). They gained significant attention after winning the inaugural Gold Coast Music Prize and became a standout act at the 2022 Bigsound Music Conference. The band supported Dry Cleaning on a national tour, followed by their inaugural European Tour in 2023, which included performances at The Great Escape, support dates with Blondshell, and an appearance at London’s Wide Awake Festival, captivating audiences at events like London Calling, Pitchfork Music Festival, and Rolling Stone Beach.
Recognized as one of Rolling Stone’s 'Best of SXSW' and included in NME's '10 Essential Acts' at SXSW 2024, Girl and Girl was also highlighted on Steve Lamacq’s 6Music SXSW Wrap as a top pick of the festival. They continued to make an impact with a month-long tour in the US with Royel Otis in May, where they recorded multiple live-to-air radio sessions, including a debut performance for KEXP Live.
In late 2024, the band returned to Europe for electrifying appearances at End of The Road and Manchester Psych Festival, along with a series of joyful headline shows and performances at Reeperbahn 2024.
