Brisbane indie-punk quartet Semantics is set to release their much-anticipated sophomore album, I FEEL IT ALL AT ONCE, via SideOne Dummy Records in 2024.
Representing a bright new chapter for the group, I FEEL IT ALL AT ONCE builds on a diverse range of sonic influences, with crushing riffs, soaring melodies, and introspective songwriting coming together to create Semantics’ most cohesive and definitive work to date.
Written and produced in Brisbane, the album showcases the strong artistic chemistry and understanding among the band members. Led by songwriter and frontman Callum Robinson, this new work reflects the collaborative spirit of the entire band. It serves as a love letter to their relationship as musicians, their perseverance, and a hopeful look toward fresh horizons.
Across its eleven tracks, I FEEL IT ALL AT ONCE encapsulates a broad emotional spectrum, capturing snapshots of life’s journeys through themes of grief, love, yearning, and ultimately, acceptance. Semantics has previously shown a willingness to explore darker themes, but this album also highlights a healthier and more cathartic approach.
Emerging from the ups and downs of the past few years of life and relationships, the band is now tighter than ever, with a renewed sense of positivity for their musical future.
“We’ve been a band for five years, maybe longer. Because we had a bit of time off last year and with life changing for everyone, I think that what we’ve found on this album — with recording and writing it — is that we are the closest as friends that we’ve ever been. We spend a lot more quality time together as friends, not just as bandmates. That’s reflected in the writing and recording process. Even though this is heavy-sounding, I feel that the subject matter is a lot more optimistic.”
I FEEL IT ALL AT ONCE is released via SideOne Dummy Records.
