What the World Needs Now is a celebration of Burt Bacharach with the Sydney Symphony Orchestra, taking place on Saturday, 14 December 2024, at 7:30 PM at the Sydney Coliseum Theatre.
Burt Bacharach, alongside his long-time collaborator Hal David, has provided the soundtrack to our lives with some of the most beloved songs in history. The Oscar, Grammy, and Emmy Award-winning songwriter's extraordinary musical legacy will be honored in this special concert.
Under the direction of conductor Benjamin Northey, the Sydney Symphony Orchestra will perform a selection of Bacharach’s greatest hits, featuring a stellar cast that includes David Campbell, Elise McCann, Emma Pask, and Thndo. Songs to be performed include "What the World Needs Now," "Alfie," "Walk on By," "I Say a Little Prayer," "Close to You," "One Less Bell to Answer," "That’s What Friends Are For," and more.
