About This Venue

The Brisbane Showgrounds, formerly known as the Brisbane Exhibition Ground, is a historic and versatile venue located in Bowen Hills, Brisbane. Established in 1875, this iconic space hosts over 250 events each year, with the highlight being the much-loved Royal Queensland Show, or as locals call it, the Ekka.

Designed by Claude William Chambers and built by Walls & Juster, the Brisbane Showgrounds has been a key part of Queensland’s heritage for over a century. Known by several names, including the RNA Showgrounds and Ekka Grounds, this venue was officially added to the Queensland Heritage Register in 2003, cementing its place as a significant cultural landmark.

Owned and operated by the Royal National Agricultural and Industrial Association of Queensland (RNA), the Brisbane Showgrounds comes alive each August when it hosts the Ekka, a 9-day celebration that brings the community together for fun, food, and agriculture. Beyond Ekka, the Showgrounds is a year-round hub for events of all kinds, offering a range of flexible spaces for hire.

Whether it’s the buzz of the Ekka or one of the many other events held throughout the year, the Brisbane Showgrounds continues to be a gathering place where Brisbane’s history and future meet.
